Understanding bioelectricity

Have you ever wondered how ECG machines work? Why do high voltages affect or even kill us? and Why do specific waveforms of high voltage can rescue people from heart attack? All these answers are connected to only one answer: our whole body works thanks to electricity (or bioelectricity). We can lift a finger due to bioelectricity, we can see thanks to it. Almost every action is done due to the existance of bioelectricity.

We are talking about electrical signals that are generated and detected by our organs, muscles, brain, glands. These signals are as well transmitted by our nerves. In this article an explanation of how all these parts work and communicate will be given.

Increasing cable length in precision video applications

Traditionally, the physical environment for transmitting video signals over long distances has been the shielded coax cable. Its quality and advantages are well known, and many times designers looking for off-the-shelf solutions do not know that long distance video transmission can be achieved with the same quality but for a much lower price. The solution described in this article proposes as the physical environment the use of a simple twisted pair cable; in addition to its lower price (compared to the shielded coaxial cable) it also features a much smaller weight, which sometimes can be a critical design criteria, especially for instance, in automotive environments, where cable weight account for the most percentage of the mass of a car.

Bene, ora che abbiamo iniziato con il VHDL possiamo passare ad un esempio un po’ piu’ corposo, non tanto come quantita’ di codice ma come insieme di regole empiriche che pero’ aiutano a cavarci d’impaccio.

Overview
I do not want to make a course about VHDL as a programming language for HW (there are a lot of books better than my words 1), because courses and specifics of languages are public and everyone can find them easily on the Net. I just want to give some suggestions / recommendations by whom, starting many years ago, has had to develop an endless series of projects at different levels of complexity .

Overview
Non vorrei fare un corso sul VHDL come linguaggio di programmazione per l’HW (vedi nota 1), corsi e specifiche del linguaggio sono pubblici e ognuno può trovarli facilmente in rete. Quello che vorrei fare e’ dare una serie di suggerimenti/consigli da chi, partendo dall’inizio tanti anni fa’, ha dovuto sviluppare una innumerevole serie di progetti a diversi livelli di complessità.
