Scientists supposedly improve blue OLED efficiency by 25%
By Ionela Mar 23rd, 2009
Solid-state lighting (SSL) offers enormous potential to improve the electricity. The most promising technology is the organic light-emitting diode (OLED). This multi-layered device produces light by running an electrical current through a specially host material.
The Pacific Northwest National Laboratory scientist Asanga Padmaperuma and his collegues have designed, synthesized and tested new materials that improve the power efficiency of blue OLEDs by at least 25%.

Great improvement in blue OLED
Many efforts have been made in the last few years to increase the efficiency and the lifetime of blue OLED (red and green OLED still had good performance levels). This information shows that good improvements have been made in that direction. Also in South Corea some scientists have done big progress increasing the blue OLED efficiency - reference: http://www.oled-info.com/south-korean-scientists-say-they-developed-efficient-true-blue-oled
