Plasma Television Screens Set to Be Banned

Download PDF version of the Article

Saving energy and reducing pollution are the goals, the targets that all countries in the world want to achieve. Plasma TVs are destined to be one of next victims to get those targets : giant TV sets will be be banned very soon (probably next spring in EU) because, compared to the traditional CRT ( Cathode Ray Tube) sets, they use much more electricity (until four times) and are responsible for much more carbon dioxide production (until three-four times).

Anyway Plasma TVs will not banned completely, the ecologic ones will remain in the market. Their cousins, LCD TVs, use less energy so they do not run the risk to be banned. The fight to the climate change pass through the electricity consumption reduction also. Compared last generation the present one consumes the double amount of energy, as a consequence wasteful devices must be eliminated and new low-energy alternatives must be introduced.
