Low-Power Microcontroller Solutions from Freescale
Freescale has developed a scalable portfolio of low-power microcontroller solutions blending leadingedge battery saving technology with a range of performance and peripheral options.
Smart Metering Low-Power Solutions
The number of embedded devices running on battery power or parasitic power continues to grow. Design portability now equates to product profitability. Freescale's low power strategy is long term; expect an ongoing investment in the development ecosystem as well as additional low-power devices to help you accelerate your time to market.

ColdFire 32-bit MCUs
The ColdFire QE family—the upper half of the Flexis 8/32-bit low-power solutions offering a pathway to higher performance while sharing the same peripheral, package and development tools as its smaller S08QE cousin.
RS08 and S08 8-bit MCUs
An evolutionary step up from the popular HC08 architecture with higher bus speeds and lower operating voltages. Operating from 1.8–3.6V, the S08QE family blends the latest ultra-low-power technology with a rich set of communications, analog and timer peripherals. The S08LL and S08QB combine the same battery-saving capabilities with a segment LCD controller and cost-reduced peripheral set. For ultra-small pin count requirements, the RS08 architecture offers compelling low-power performance from 1.8 to 5V.
Easy-to-Use Development Tools
A range of cost-effective demo boards and a wealth of other development resources. The result—a reduction in hardware and software design cycle. The advantage—faster time to market and a reduction in product development costs.
Low-Power Technology
The Freescale low-power portfolio extends from ultra-low-cost, small-footprint, 8-bit MCUs with 1KB of flash, to high-performance 32-bit MCUs with up to 128 KB of flash. Lowpower features include clock gating, multiple low-power operating modes and a 32 kHz oscillator that consumes less than 1 μA. The newest members include low-power segment LCD functionality for applications such as handheld health care diagnostic instruments, utility metering and portable consumer devices.
