The invisible man: is it only a dream ?
Well, the researcher of Berkeley University (California) have created the "material" that could change a dream in reality. This new material (called meta-material) has been created thanks to the nano-technology because the tiny repeating cell structures used for optics applications are measured in nanometers. Creating meta-materials may require novel fabrication methods, made possible only through nano-technology. All materials found in nature have a positive refractive index, the meta-material has a negative refractive index of -0.6 for light with a wavelength of 780-nanometers.
The meta-material operates in the infrared spectrum: higher frequencies -- the ones we can see -- mean smaller wavelengths, as a consequence the researchers have to miniaturize their already microscopic designs, a process at the bleeding edge of current technology. The meta-material is obtained through layers of silver, sandwiching a thin sliver of nonconducting magnesium fluoride on a glass sheet and it can capture the electromagnetic radiation and deflect it progressively. In other words the meta -material can control the light direction, making invisible (?) the object that is behind. Practically this new material should bend the luminous waves around the object, at the same manner of a water river around a rock. An observer, in this case, should see only the light coming behind the object. If the invisibility will be a reality and not a dream in the future, there is a risk to go around and to be really alone (you cannot see the other people, you cannot see even your imagine in the mirror!!!). Who knows, maybe the dream can become a nightmare...

Very interesting but I read
Very interesting but I read some other articles and meta-material doesn't actually render anything invisible. True?
Very interesting but I read
True, at the moment the invisibilty is only a dream
Interesting. But why are
Interesting. But why are there no references (links) to the sources? For interested readers it is hard to find more information now.
