FTPmicro [WebServer - FTPclient - RSS-FeedReader]
FTPmicro is a web-server or ftp-client, as big as a DIP40 package , based on the PIC18F67J60.
Despite the small dimensions, the board has some interesting features:
1) A microSD card slot
2) A TC1047 temperature sensor
3) Many analog and digital I/O pins
4) Microchip TCP/IP stack
5) Connector for the ICD2 programmer/debugger by Microchip
6) DIP40 package, enters perfectly in a socket of a 40 PIN DIL microprocessor.
7) Dimensions (90x20)mm
8) A FAT16 Filesystem is used, so you can realize the web-pages directly on PC and then read by FTPmicro through the SD memory.

To monitor the remote temperature, from anywhere in the world, you need just an ethernet connection and the ethernet cable for the connection to the network. Thanks to the Microchip stack with the DHCP features, the router will assign automatically the IP to the device. It is also possible to activate LEDs or RELAYs.

FTPclient
With the possibility of having the microSD memories at high capacity and with the FAT16, with FTPmicro you can realize a real server FTP or a client, which periodically connects to your site and downloads the informations you need. With this feature you can make remote controls without the requirement of a static IP, it's simply enough to update a file on your site and FTPmicro will update periodically with the relatives informations.

Do you need to monitor the temperature of some refrigerators? FTPmicro send an e-mail if a temperature exceed the threshold set by you. Lately Microchip has also implemented the SMTP authentication in the Stack.
