VIDEO CODECs FOR YOUR APPLICATION.
Back in the old days when there was only analog video, there was not much concern on transmission bandwidth or storage capacity. But with the advent of digital video, it became necessary to develop video compression technologies that would fit digital signal into available media. Standard Definition video or SD-SDI requires a bandwidth of 270 Mbps while High Definition video or HD-SDI requires 1.5 Gbps.
Increasing cable length in precision video applications - this is the purpose of this article. Traditionally, the physical environment for transmitting video signals over long distances has been the shielded coax cable. Its quality and advantages are well known, and many times designers looking for off-the-shelf solutions do not know that long distance video transmission can be achieved with the same quality but for a much lower price.
This demo demonstrates a procedure for image acquisition from a camera equipped with serial interface on CMOS levels using FLEX. FLEX is a platform board for embedded modular systems that exploits the potential of Microchip family’s dsPIC DSC microcontroller. It is an ideal board for developing real-time applications because the onboard dsPIC33FJ256MC710 microcontroller supports advanced real-time kernel, such as the Evidence Srl’s Erika Enterprise.
