Distributed Seismic Monitoring Project with JM badge board

jm badge board freescale

Do you realize that Freescale's JM Badge board can be designed into a seismometer? The board is presented in FTF2008, distributed for free as name badge and starter kit for JM badge contest 2008.

MEMS Microphones to Replace Electret Types

The MEMS technology seems to byte bigger and bigger chunks from the conventional semiconductor market. And although the accelerometer is the first thing that pops into mind when you think of an example, the most widespread MEMS representative is most probably the microphone.

Design Freescale MEMS Acceleration Sensors in an Impact Detection Camera

FreescaleMMA7455

The acceleration sensors are getting popular in air-bag, GPS navigator, HDD, game console and mobile phone. The latest acceleration sensors adopt the MEMS (MicroElectroMechanical System) technology, offers high reliability and sensitivity in a small size.

Analog Devices designs power and space efficient MEMS

Analog devices has introduced a new kind of MEMS motion sensor that can measure tilt, shock and acceleration of space constrained designs.

LIS331DL MEMS motion sensor 3-axis smart digital output “nano” accelerometer

LIS331DL MEMS motion sensor 3-axis smart digital output “nano” accelerometer

The LIS331DL, belonging to the “nano” family of ST motion sensors, is the smallest consumer lowpower three axes linear accelerometer.

ADI's Ultra Low Power ADXL345 Motion Sensor for Portable Electronics Products

scrn1.JPG

Motion sensing technology has ushered in a new era in portable consumer electronics. Analog Devices’ ADXL345 three-axis digital iMEMS® (integrated micro-electro-mechanical system) accelerometer is specifically designed to enable motion sensing in energy and cost constrained portable devices such as cell phones, digital cameras, mobile gaming systems.

Micro Electro Mechanical Systems technology (MEMS)

Micro Electro Mechanical Systems technology (MEMS)

The Micro Electro Mechanical Systems technology (aka MEMS) allows to integrate on the same silicon substrate both electronic circuits and optical-mechanical devices, adopting semiconductor fabrication technologies similar to those used to make integrated circuits.

Good news for all diabetes sufferers

Medical explication
Diabetes is a disorder that affects the way our body uses food for energy. Normally, the sugar we take in is digested and broken down to a simple sugar - glucose. The glucose circulates in our blood where it waits to enter cells to be used as fuel. Insulin (a hormone produced by the pancreas) helps move the glucose into cells. A healthy pancreas adjusts the amount of insulin based on the level of glucose. But, if you have diabetes, this process breaks down, and blood sugar levels become too high (watch this video!)

iPod touch - when the technology becomes sensitive

iPod Touch and MEMS

[Ionela, from Dev.Emcelettronica Your Electronics Open Source]
I never handled an iPod touch until a few days a ago. But a friend of mine received as birthday present the media player iPod Touch and so I had the chance to analyze it. What can I say? It's very thin and surprising. Once you start using it, you can not leave it! The iPod touch has a reduced size: height 110mm, width 61.8mm and only 8 mm thick. Weighs only 120 grams. The 3.5 inches widescreen format display has a resolution of 480 x 320 pixels at 163 ppi. The iPod touch provides Wi-Fi wireless connectivity (802.11b/g) - the only iPod to have it.

STM32 Primer - The Intelligent Butterfly

STM32 Primer STM32F103

I first learned of the STM32 Primer at a technical seminar presented by STMicroelectronics. The STM32 Primer is designed to provide a complete toolset for STM32 that is fun and easy to use. Give it a try and learn about the features of the STM32 and the powerful ARM Cortex™-M3 core.
