The OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) is a new, emerging technology to generate light using organic materials.

Touch screen interfaces are rigid and flat. Impress changes the distance between the human and technology by making the display flexible.

This is a very good example showing how to interface a graphic LCD (with embedded Toshiba T6963 controller) with an Atmel AVR Family microcontroller.

The most used LCD is the 16x2 (i.e. 16 chars per row, two rows). You need to know the lcd controller to interface the LCD to your electronics (usually a microcontroller) and most of the time 16x2 lcds use an Hitachi HD44780.
