This is Freescale’s ultra low voltage dc-dc converter circuit and I’m going to show it operating charging Lithium ion battery from a solar cell.

The MAX17112 is a highly efficient, power-management IC that employs a current-mode, fixed-frequency, PWM architecture for fast-transient response and low-noise operation.

The MAX8625A step-up/down architecture employs a true H-bridge topology that combines a boost converter and a buck converter topology using a single inductor and output capacitor. The MAX8625A utilizes a pulse-width modulated (PWM), current-mode control scheme and operates at a 1MHz fixed frequency to minimize external component size.

DC-DC Converters are circuits designed to match loads to the power sources available. Generally, they accept power input at one voltage and supply one or more loads requiring power at different voltage levels.
