The Art of the Remembrancer

Download PDF version of the Article

This is an installation art piece that is based on transformation, memory capture and the reduction of observable phenomena. It relies a lot on the power of observation and the effects of spatial events, its temporal undercurrents and the cultural amplification of how these phenomena can be translated into technological art pieces for everyone’s enjoyment. It is a system where there are three painters, all mechanical and controlled through a network. This network feeds on the current events that occur around the world. These events then are transmuted into electrical pulses for the MaxMSP to interpret into actions for the robotic painters. The painters in turn reflect these pulses by their actions over three canvases. The transmuted information is made into musical scores, or compositions which are then shared throughout the gallery via wall mounted speakers. The compositions are then fed into a Make Controller which then makes the robotic painters actuate to the movements of the compositions. The result would then be both a digital and artistic masterpiece unique for each composition that has been used.
