Analog devices Inc (ADI) announced the availability of intellivision’s video analytics and intelligence solutions for Blackfin. This is coming soon after all developers across the globe are begining to design the BlackFin processor into surveillance and machine vision cameras.

The video analytics solutions offered by IntelliVision are being used in surveillance, automated monitoring, and security operations without the bother of operator intervention.
With the availability of improved features such as high performance video processing, compression and streaming along with low power consumption and easy design, it has become a popular choice for camera makes.

The shipment of the new BlackFin based intelligent video modules by IntelliVision will begin immediately. The modules initially available are: Intrusion Detection, Video Counter, Object Left Detector, Asset Protector, and Camera Tamper Detection. Over the course of the year several other modules will also be made available.

More about Blackfin-Class Processing:

BlackFin processors by Analog Devices is a 16/32 bit embedded processor that has to its credit the titles of industrie’s highest performance processor of its kind and most power efficient.
In its arsenal of capabilities it includes multi-format audio, video, voice and image processing; multi-mode baseband and packet processing; and real-time security and control processing.
The flexibility in software and scalability has made BlackFin dominant in convergent applications such as digital home entertainment, networked and streaming media, automotive telematics and infotainment, and digital radio and mobile TV.

Words from relevant people:
“Leading camera developers worldwide are designing Blackfin into surveillance and machine vision cameras because of its high performance video processing, compression and streaming capabilities,” said Vaidhi Nathan, President of IntelliVision. Running IntelliVision’s intelligence products on Blackfin allows manufacturers to deliver higher value video analytics products, with more features in a short period of time.”

“The use of automated video surveillance is poised to grow rapidly as users take advantage of low-cost IP networks to implement distributed intelligent systems to secure assets and people,” said Michael Long, Product Line Manager for Industrial Video and Imaging Solutions, Analog Devices General Purpose DSP Division. “Blackfin processors allow camera designers to address the needs of the video analytics market because of the device’s performance, scalability and low power operation --which simplifies camera design and deployment.”
