ESD discharge test at 4KV on the AC-Safe circuit

An ulterior test has been made on the Printed Circuit of the protection of AC-Safe line. Since we speak about a device purposely planned to protect from the lightnings and overcharges, it was obligatory to protect also physically the parts. A lightning that fell in the vicinity can also damage the gas discharger and therefor the protection card. (A lightning that fell in the close proximity damages everything!).
These discharge tips serve to realize a solid earth discharge of energy, helping the gas discharger's job. In the AC-Safe project the tips have been realized at a distance of 1.2mm, therefore considering the formula V=3000d+1350 ,
we obtain V=4950. From the tests it turns out that the discharge begins already from 4KV, this probably is due to the conical realization of the tips and from the clean removal of the Solder Mask. Demonstrating once again how important it is the geometric construction piste in the realization of the Printed Circuits.
